What should happen to Manor Yard Field? Sawley Community Council have been accused of not representing the views of Sawley on this. This survey is intended to find out what people actually want. It is not a simple Change.org petition that some parties may setup that invites bots from all over the world to comment. The data will be linked to the copy of the electoral register (that the Liberal Democrats as a political party are entitled to obtain). Because of this it can be submitted to Erewash Borough Council or a future planning committee hearing regarding the site as a record of what the residents of Sawley actually want.

Residents should be aware that EBC may not be able to sell the land directly to the farmer than previously rented the land due to the councils obligation to deliver value for Council Tax Payers particularly as the council moves towards being disbanded in 2028, and to do so might result in a legal challenge. The land would therefore have to be offered in an open sale.

What Should Happen to Manor Yard Field

We are looking to gauge opinion on what the future use of the Manor Yard Field should be. Erewash Borough Coucnil have proposed designating it as a local nature reserve and investing in its biodiversity. There is also the option to sell all or part of the field to the farmer who up until recently rented the field off Erewash. It is also prime land for housing should residents feel the need for local housing outweighs the need for a nature reserve or farmland. The survey consists of a single question. In order for us to submit your response to Erewash Borough Council we need to verify that you do indeed live in Sawley for that purpose your name and postcode will be matched automatically against the electoral register so please enter these correctly. Residents from outside Sawley can still take part however there response may not be included in the submission to Erewash Borough Council.
